The Royal Rumble took place this past Wednesday with the entire Brooklyn Tech Football Program separating into two teams, coaches and players, and playing timed game condition scrimmages. Competition was fierce as the two sides battled for bragging rights and a leg up on the depth chart going into the 2014 off-season.
It was an opportunity for the seniors to lead their younger counterparts and for younger players to get valuable reps with the varsity “1’s”. The team was split into A and B group with most of the sophomores and juniors playing in both groups. Freshman Peter Henderson started at center for the Blue team with the A group.
The Blue team A group scored with a Tristan Brown rushing TD first, but was unsuccessful on the 2 pt. conversion. The score was set up by a long catch by Andre Lebron (BLUE #81-JR) on 3rd and long. The Blue B group drove down and kicked a field goal, making the game 9-0 going into the last A session. With Blue A group on the white 45 yard line, Francis Cawog(JR) intercepted Charlie Colt (JR). Elijah Rueda then mixed short passes and screens with the running of Lokae Harmon (Soph) before hitting Alpha Gamby with a touchdown pass and successful 2 pt conversion.
When time ran out, Blue had defeated White by a score of 9-8.
