Brooklyn Tech Comes Back to Defeat Boys & Girls High 19-16

The Engineers went into their game against Boys & Girls High School intent on a victory.  The squad came through with a come from behind 19-16 win this past Saturday in Crown Heights.

Tech scored first on a play-action pass from Elijah Rueda to Lawrence Menyah which covered 33 yards.   After the defense held on a drive in the second quarter, Ayinde Pope blocked a punt which was scooped up by Terrance Battle and returned for another touchdown.  Tech led 12-0.

Boys High got on the scoreboard with a pass for a TD in the second quarter and the 2 point conversion was good. At the half, Tech led 12-8.

Boys High added another touchdown in the 3rd quarter on a long run.  The 2 point conversion was good and Boys High led 16-12.  Tech got the ball back with 2:40 to go in the 4th quarter and went 83 yards in under a minute behind multiple catches from Lawrence Menyah and Alpha Gamby, as well as, a screen pass to Amani Murphy.  After two sacks, Tech faced a fourth and 17 from the 35 yard line.  Rueda found Donovan Ortiz for a 32 yard reception.  Lawrence Menyah ran in for the score on the next play.  Nick Fuertes added the extra point and Tech led by a score of 19-16.

When Boys High got the ball back, Alpha Gamby picked off the first pass thrown and Tech was able to pull out the come from behind victory.

Tech Varsity and Junior Varsity play a double-header at Canarsie next Sunday.  JV at 11am and varsity at 2pm.
