Gill & Menyah Make All-City Team ; 5 Tech Players Honored at NYCFCA Awards

On Thursday January 29th, the New York City Football Coaches Association held its annual dinner at New Utrecht High School.  Brian Gill and Lawrence Menyah were named to the All City team and 3 other Tech football players were honored with multiple awards.

The evening began with guest speaker Kyle Flood, Head Football Coach at Rutgers University.  Coach Flood played football at St. Francis Prep in Queens and later at Iona College in New Rochelle.  He has been at Rutgers for 12 years, first as an assistant and the last four as Head Coach.

Elijah Rueda (Bronx), Ayinde Pope (Brooklyn), Brian Gill (Brooklyn), Alpha Gamby (Bronx) and Lawrence Menyah (Bronx) were honored first for being named All Conference.  Brian, Elijah and Nicolas Fuertes (Queens) were also recognized for being named to the NYCFCA All Academic Team.  The evening ended with Brian Gill being named as an inside linebacker and Lawrence Menyah as an outside linebacker.  Miles Kirkland of Curtis High School was posthumously honored as a member of the All City team.

Rueda, Gill and Menyah were also honored on January 20th by the Brooklyn Football Coaches Association.  The three young men, all Captains at Brooklyn Tech, were named to the Brooklyn 44 team for 2014.

Next week, Lawrence Menyah will sign his National Letter of Intent to play football at Fordham University.  Signing day is Wednesday February 4th.
